ABBREVIATIONS

K=knit stitch (u-knit or flat stitch can be used for tighter texture)

 NOTE

• Place stitch marker on any peg to mark it as the first peg.
• Connect 32 Flexee links to create a circle.

INSTRUCTIONS

Cast on 64 sts, using the long-tail cast on or the double e-wrap cast on.  

Rnds 1-12: *Ewk1, p1; rep from * to end of rnd.

Optional: for a tighter brim, use flat or U-knit instead of E-wrap.

Rnd 13-14: Ewk to end of rnd.

Rnd 15: *k1, p1; rep from * to end rnd.

Rnd 16: p to end of rnd.

Rnd 17-18: Ewk to end of rnd.

Rep last 6 rnds until hat measures approximately 8.5 inches from cast on edge.

Tip: This texture lets variegated yarn pop and adds a handspun look. Adjust number of rounds to customize slouch or fit.

Bind off using the gather/cinch bind off method.

How to:

1. Cut yarn, leaving a 16–18 inch tail.
2. Thread the yarn through a yarn needle and run the needle through all 64 loops, lifting them off the pegs as you go.
3. Pull tight to close the top.
4. Secure with a knot, and weave in the end on the inside.

Weave in all ends. Steam block or wet block.

Option: Crown Decrease (shaped):

With the Flexee Loom, you can shape the crown more gradually by removing pegs to create true decreases:

Begin Decreasing: Once your hat body reaches about 8.5″ tall, start decreasing every 8 pegs. To do this, remove every 8th peg and shift the following stitches over one peg to close the gap. Work 2 rounds in pattern (e.g., Ewk all pegs).

Continue Shaping: On the next decrease round, remove every 7th peg, shift stitches to close the gaps, and continue knitting 2 rounds.

Repeat this process (removing one fewer peg between decreases each time) until you are down to about 10–12 pegs remaining.

Bind Off: Cut yarn, leaving a 16–18 inch tail. Use a yarn needle to thread through the remaining loops and remove them from the loom.
