CABLES

This design creates a rope like twist in your knitting. These can be worked over several stitches. A cable needle or a stitch holder is helpful.

Cables over 2 Stitches

Left crossing (LC- 2 stitches)

1. Take working yarn behind peg 1, skip this peg.

2. Knit peg 2, and then place on a cable needle.

3. Then move stitch on peg 1 to peg 2.

4. Then place stitch from cable needle on to peg 1.

5. Knit peg 2.

Right Crossing (RC-2 stitches)

1. Place stitch 1 on a cable needle and hold to center of loom.

2. Move yarn to front of peg 2 and knit the peg.

3. Move this stitch from peg 2 to peg 1.

4. Then take stitch off of cable needle and place on peg 2.

5. Knit peg 2.

Cables Over 3 Stitches

Crossing left (LC- 3 stitches)

1.Take working yarn to the back of stitch 1 and 2 (skipping those stitches).

2. Work peg 3, then put the newly formed stitch on a cable needle.

3. Go back and knit peg 1 and 2.

4. Move stitch on peg 1 and peg 2, to peg 2 and 3 (from 2 to 3 and 1 to 2).

5. Then place stitch on cable needle to peg 1.

Crossing right (3 stitches)

1. Put 1st stitch on a cable needle.

2. Work stitch 2 and 3.

3. Move stitch 2 to peg one and stitch 3 to peg two.

4. Then place stitch from cable needle on peg 3.

Cables over 4 stitches

Crossing left (LC- 4 stitches)

1. Remove stitches 1 and 2 and put on a cable needle or stitch holder.

2. Work stitch 3 and 4. Then move these worked stitches to pegs 1 and 2 (from 3 to1, and 4 to 2).

3. Place stitches from cable needle on to empty pegs, 3 and 4. Work these stitches.

4. Then gently pull slack yarn to tighten cables.

Crossing right (RC- 4 stitches)

1. Take working yarn behind pegs 1 and 2.

2. Work pegs 3 and 4. Then place these 2 stitches on a cable needle.

3. Work pegs 1 and 2. Then move these stitches to pegs 3 and 4 (peg 2 to 4 and 1 to 3).

4. Take stitches off of cable needle and put on first 2 pegs, 1 and 2.

5. Tighten yarn slack on each stitch.
