Being a cat is a very difficult job, which is why every pretty kitty needs a special place to lounge, preen, and purr. This kitty perch has fanciful flair with its lattice stitch design, and the ability to easily remove the insides for washing. For stuffing material, the sample uses towels ready for retirement that most households have lying around… even better!
ABBREVIATIONS

PATTERN NOTES
This pattern uses 2 strands of yarn held throughout.
For the sample, all knit stitches were made using the U-stitch.
The cables in this pattern involve simply trading the loops of 2 pegs in the correct order. They consist
of a Right Twist [rt2] (a twist with the sts running to the right), and a Left Twist [lt2] (a twist with the sts running to the left). They are worked as follows: [rt2]: Worked over 2 pegs: Lift the loop from the peg on the right and either hold in your fingers, or place on a cable needle. Lift the loop on the left and move it to the peg on the right. Place the held loop onto the peg on the left. With the working yarn, knit the 2 pegs.
[lt2]: Worked over 2 pegs: Lift the loop from the peg on the left and either hold in your fingers, or place on a cable needle. Lift the loop on the right and move it to the peg on the left. Place the held loop onto the peg on the right. With the working yarn, knit the 2 pegs.
*An easy way to remember which direction to go is to remember to hold the stitch on the side of the slant. So…for a right twist, hold the loop on the right. For a left twist, hold the loop on the left.

FINISHING
Using long CO and BO tails, seam the top piece to the bottom piece with wrong sides together, leaving the right edges open. Sew around the corners and into the side to be left open for about one inch.
Attach the 3 large buttons to the bottom piece within the garter stitch border at the open right side. Make sure to stitch the buttons onto the outside of the piece, rather than the inside. The buttons will not need corresponding buttonholes, as they will simply be slipped through the sts on the top piece, within the garter stitch border. Weave in all ends.
Fold a couple of towels or an old blanket into the size of the knitted case and insert so that the piece is filled all the way to the corners and button closed.
