Lily Market Bag

LOOM:  Flexee Loom Links Regular, 50 links (100 pegs).

YARN Approx 350 yards (Approx 300 yds of MC, 50 CC) acrylic blend in worsted #4 weight. Sample was worked with Lion Brand Re-Tweed (3.5oz/100g; 1202yd/185m) in Article Ice (MC), and Skyway (CC).

NOTIONS:  Tapestry needle, knitting tool, scissors.

GAUGE: 8 sts x 12 rows=2 inches on Flexee Links Regular.

SIZE: Approx 15 inches tall by 13” wide.

ABBREVIATIONS

K=knit stitch (u-wrap or true knit stitch)

P=purl stitch

St(s)=stitch(es)

Rep=repeat

yo=yarn over (ewrap the empty peg)

K2tog=knit two stitches together

MC=Main color (Article Ice color)

CC=Contrasting color (Skyway  color)

wybp=with yarn in back of peg

Approx=Approximately

INSTRUCTIONS

Connect 50 Flexee links into a circle configuration. Place a stitch marker to mark peg 1.

Top Edging on Bag

With MC, Cast on 100 sts, join to work in the round

Rnd 1, 3, 5: k to the end of rnd.

Rnd 2, 4, 6: p to the end of rnd.

Join CC (do not cut MC).

Rnd 7, 9: k to the end of rnd.

Rnd 8, 10: p to the end of rnd.

Cut CC, continue with MC.

Rnd 11, 13, 15: k to the end of rnd.

Rnd 12, 14, 16: p to the end of rnd.

End of edging around the top of the bag. Continue to Body of Bag instructions.

Body of Bag

Rnd 17: p to the end of rnd.

Rnd 18: p to the end of rnd.

Rnd 19: *k1, skip 1 wyibp; rep from * to end of rnd.

Rnd 20: *p1, skip 1 wiybp; rep from * to end of rnd.

Rnd 21: *yo, k2tog; rep from * to end of rnd.

Rnd 22: k to end of rnd.

Repeat Rnds 17-22 until bag measures approximately 15 inches from cast on edge.

Bottom of Bag Shaping

The bag incorporates a shaped decrease. If no shaping is desired, close with a gather bind off method.

Next rnd: *k8, k2tog; rep from * to end of rnd.

Next rnd: *k7, k2tog; rep from * to end of rnd.

Next rnd: *k6, k2tog; rep from * to end of rnd.

Next rnd: *k5, k2tog; rep from * to end of rnd.

Next rnd: *k4, k2tog; rep from * to end of rnd.

Next rnd: *k3, k2tog; rep from * to end of rnd.

Next rnd: *k2, k2tog; rep from * to end of rnd.

Next rnd: *k1, k2tog; rep from * to end of rnd.

Bind off with gather bind off method.

Weave in all ends. Block if necessary.

Handle Strap

With CC, Cast on 10 stitches; prepare to work a flat panel.

Row 1: k to end of row.

Row 2: p to end of row.

Repeat last 2 rows until strap measures X inches from cast on edge.

Bind off with basic bind off method.

Sew handle strap to the top edging area of the bag. For decoration purposes, the strap was sewn to the outside of the bag.

Optional: add contrasting decorations to the handle area. To prevent the handle from stretching, you can sew gross-grain ribbon to the inside of the handle.

  1. I love all your patterns and appreciate them. Love all kb looms. Looking forward to some of the rotating double knit loom patterns. Have all flexee looms. I think the flexees and rotating loom are a big hit now. I wish rotating double knit loom had a Facebook page though just like Flexee looms does.
