PATTERN NOTES: The colorwork stitch pattern calls to work with 2 colors over 8 stitches and 12 rounds. When carrying the unused color, it is recommended not to carry it more than 1-inch of work, for this specific gauge, no more than 3 stitches. When the yarn has to travel more than 3 stitches, twist/weave the yarns around each other to “lock” the floats to the back of the work. Example: Work 3 stitches with the MC, drop it and pick the CC; twist the CC around the MC, drop the CC, then pick the MC and continue working.
Connect 48 links, join to work in the round.
Cast on 96 sts, join to work in the round.
Rnd 1-19: Using CC, *k2, p2; rep from * to end of rnd.
Rnd 20: *k to end of rnd. Join MC.
Next 12 rounds: follow color chart.
Repeat the last 12 rounds until the hat measures approximately 7 inches from cast-on edge (the hat will grow in length with blocking if wool-based yarn was used). End on a round 12. Cut MC leaving a 6-yarn tail.
Crown decrease (remove links as they become empty).
Next rnd: *ssk, k5; rep from * to end of rnd.
Next rnd: *ssk, k4; rep from * to end of rnd.
Next rnd: *ssk, k3; rep from * to end of rnd.
Next rnd: *ssk, k2; rep from * to end of rnd.
Next rnd: *ssk, k1; rep from * to end of rnd.
Next rnd: *ssk; rep from * to end of rnd.
Bind off with gather bind off method. Weave in all ends. Wet block.
